[The attached letter was written by Ron Carner, a Brandeis graduate explaining his decision not to attend the 45th re-union of Brandeis class this year.]
Dear Lisa and Jill:
Thank you for your hard work regarding the organizing of the 45th Reunion for the class of 1961.
Even though we have paid for our attendance at the reunion in June, my wife and I will not be attending.
Without going in to much detail, I do not think it is appropriate for us to attend a reunion at Brandeis when the University has failed to continue the tradition of values established at its inception. Allowing a selection of brain-washed Palestinian children's art to be displayed at the library is just one of the several recent instances of this betrayal. Bestowing an honorary degree upon Tony Kushner is another. I wonder if the University ever researched Mr. Kushner's published quotes before they made their decision. The sad thing is I believe Mr. Kushner is being given this honor, in part, due to these quotes.
I am not asking for my money back as I would hope the funds might be applied to an exhibition depicting the pain and suffering of the victims of terror in Israel. If the University needs some web-sites or sources of information for this exhibition please contact me and I will provide them with many.
It is not that I am just angered by these offenses, ( I certainly would expect such displays of inconsiderate and manipulative behavior at Columbia) I am appalled that they are at Brandeis. That is the primary issue. At Brandeis!!
